After the girls had finished their set at the Manchester Apollo, we headed outside into the chilling night air to try out an idea I had for some promotional shots. They hadn’t spent much serious time in front of a camera shooting this sort of thing, so made sense to give them some extra practise while also trying out some poses with flight cases.

With space inside the venue fairly limited for a truck-load of cases, many were stored round the back. Unfortunately it was in the middle of March, and any kind of warmer weather was still just a distant hope. To make matters worse for me, the shooting area was littered with poles holding the shelter up, poor graffiti and nasty red heat-lamps.

Lighting notes: All exterior photos were shot with a single remote flashgun (+ diffuser), held in place by a friend. Nothing else. The mirror shot uses only available light.

As an aside, I also shot a series like the one below in Grimsby as the girls were getting ready for stage.
