It was funny to read how different people referred to the band through emails when applying/being accepted for accreditation to cover this show. Do you called them ‘F’d Up’, ‘F***ed Up’ or the full-blown ‘Fucked Up’? Reading the emails between my editor, me and various contacts at the PR agency we managed to get a full house – all three variations used!

The Rainbow in Birmingham is the classic grungy pub where so many hardcore bands get their break. Small, dark, dingy toilets with band stickers everywhere, low ceilings, low lighting and a crowd up for anything watching a band that nobody can predict. Black Lungs were awesome, even if they did pick on the photographers. “Look at all the photographers in here…” vocalist Wade MacNeil shouted “… all waiting for me to do something CRAAAZY; all waiting for me to LOSE CONTROL!” before taking off his belt and parading around with it.
