The Production Manager of a sold-out event at the Brixton Academy commissioned me to document everything from load-in to performance in a ‘day in the life’ style set, and I was over the moon to oblige. I’ve wanted to shoot a ‘day in the life’ set for years, especially during my time as resident photographer at 53 Degrees, but I never had the necessary equipment or the permission from the touring production.
Early in 2008 I had the idea that a camera sat in the lighting truss firing shots from a position impossible to achieve under normal circumstances would make fantastic photographs. Now that I had the permission and the required equipment in the same place at the same time, I was finally able to realise my plan. Hopefully you’ll like what you see.
On top of all that, I also recorded a time-lapse video of the production setup and rigging, as well as documenting the goings-on of everything that day. Take a look through everything, watch the video and let me know what you think, if you like.
